Results

  • Project went live on time in June 2012 with a big bang go-live at three hospitals, and was significantly under budget for overall implementation services.
  • At three months post-live, Bellin Epic application teams were self-sufficient and working without consultants.
  • Nordic team successfully coached and equipped their counterparts to independently own the system.
  • All hospital departments reported <2 on the Wong-Baker FACES Pain Rating Scale within a month of go-live.

 

In 2009, Bellin Health kicked off plans to implement Epic. Instead of contracting for their own system, Bellin opted to share one with ThedaCare, a long-time business partner already live on Epic.

The Connect-style implementation meant Epic didn’t assign a project team. Bellin needed to partner with a consulting firm who could offer experienced staff to execute a successful install with limited guidance and involvement from Epic. Bellin selected Nordic both for our project expertise and cultural fit.

Extending ThedaCare’s Epic EHR meant the two organizations had to share environments (including production), so they collaborated closely, sharing content and communicating extensively. Extra time was allocated for change management and working across organizations.
