The Piedmont Clinic, a non-profit health system, needed a more reliable and agile platform within its Epic EHR to track quality bundle compliance for hospital-acquired infections (HAIs), including central line-associated blood stream infections (CLABSI), catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI), and more.
Nordic built a complex risk-scoring system that was standardized and simple to review — making it easier for nurse managers and infection control users to track HAI data. Piedmont can now accurately predict a patient’s risk of infection based on factors such as length of hospital stay, medication list, point of origin, existing wounds, and pressure ulcers. Nordic also helped Piedmont develop unit-based reporting tools, including nurse manager dashboards and patient list columns, to enable clinicians to view and track bundle compliance at the patient level.
