At Nordic, our passion for connecting people doesn’t end when the workday does. Whether it’s spending time with loved ones, participating in favorite hobbies, or volunteering, living the Nordic maxim, “Make It About We,” has no limitations. That’s why we embrace opportunities to collaborate with our local communities around the globe.
Meet a few Nordic team members who are actively making a difference in their communities and demonstrating support for several of our giveback focus areas including food insecurity, education, and empowerment.
Learning and Development Program Administrator Andrea Kundert regularly volunteers with the Oregon Area Food Pantry in Wisconsin to help reduce the impact of food insecurity on local residents and their families.
“Volunteering with the food pantry is a rewarding and fun experience,” said Andrea. “Working alongside community members, we recently sorted 250 pounds of donations from the Oregon USPS food drive, highlighting the importance of unity and mutual support to make a meaningful impact in our town of 11,000 people.”
Knowledge and Communications Consultant Kelsey Keys helps provide health and safety education programs for children with her local police department. According to Kelsey, participating as a volunteer during this year’s Safety Town event was especially impactful.
“Over three days, we educated more than 35 children entering the local school district on how to be safe from harm. Regardless of where they are, knowing about stranger danger, what to do if they find a weapon, or knowing how and when to call 9-1-1 is especially important,” shared Kelsey. “Working alongside police officers, EMS services, and other first responders, we gave these young minds a hands-on experience that will stick with them long after Safety Town ends.”
Social Media Marketing Manager Tim Carbonara has raced to end HIV/AIDS with the AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC) over the last decade. In 2024, Tim will complete his sixth full marathon to raise funds for AFC, which helps people living with HIV thrive and works to ensure no new cases of HIV.
“For over 35 years, AFC has improved the lives of people with HIV and AIDS and made great strides to end the HIV epidemic,” said Tim. “Through AFC’s endurance training program, I’ve been able to raise thousands of dollars to support people in my local Chicago community who are living with HIV and AIDS.”
Participating in community efforts regardless of where we live and work reinforces our commitment to helping connect people for a healthier community and world. At Nordic, this is how we "Make It About We."
