At Nordic, we place a high value on supporting the communities in which we live and work through volunteerism and charitable giving. Over the past year, we’ve developed a corporate social responsibility committee with the goal of responsible and charitable giving under the focus of preventative health to include the following pillars: hunger, education, and empowerment. In the true spirit of our maxim “Grow. Teach,” we recently hosted a number of events in the home office to raise awareness about Nordic’s culture of philanthropy.
The first event that we hosted was a lunch and learn in our home office. We invited three organizations to talk more about issues facing our community. Chris Ziemba (Second Harvest Food Bank) spoke about access to food and how donations made to the organization aide in the distribution of millions of pounds of food each year. Karla Jameson (Porchlight) spoke about homelessness in the community and housing that Porchlight provides. Sandy Morales (Big Brothers Big Sisters) spoke about the meaningful relationships that are built between Bigs and Littles and how important these relationships become over time.
The second event that we hosted was a CEO Roundtable with Nordic’s CEO, Bruce Cerullo. Presenting to a group of young professionals, Bruce shared more about his personal giving philosophy, Nordic’s contributions to the community, and how we should aspire to be a culture of giving back.
