Join in Nordic’s Community Giveback Week May 16-21, 2016

cgw2016.pngGiving back has been a core value at Nordic since its earliest days. What started years ago as Community Giveback Day with various service projects around Madison has now grown to Community Giveback Week with service projects happening all over the country throughout the week of May 16-21, 2016. Why tell you? So you can join us, of course! If you're interested in serving alongside Team Nordic, give us a shout at events@nordicwi.com. Our Plans for Community Giveback Week May 16-21, 2016

The fun, get-pumped-up-to-serve overview video

Generally speaking, we’ll be hoping to serve children, the hungry, the homeless, and students (especially those underserved) in the communities where we work. Here are the cities in which we’ll be serving and the organizations we’ll be helping.

Madison

Home to Nordic, we’ll be helping at a variety of organizations throughout Madison.

Chicago – Breakthrough

In Chicago’s East Garfield Park, there are significant negative influences to overcome. Breakthrough fosters the development of the community by building healthy relationship networks, growing the skills of the men, women and children, and promoting the transfer of wisdom to our younger generation.

Boston – Hale Barnard House

Hale Barnard Corporation provides residential and supportive services of exceptional quality for a diverse older population. The residential programs offer an alternative to institutional care—a homelike place when "home" is no longer possible. Its goal is to enhance all aspects of living in the later years by offering meaningful choices, social, intellectual, and spiritual stimulation and by honoring individual worth in the collective environment.

Los Angeles - Midnight Mission

Founded in 1914, The Midnight Mission offers paths to self-sufficiency to men, women, and children who have lost direction. Its emergency services and 12-step recovery, family living, job training, education and workforce development programs offer acompassionate bridge to achieve and maintain healthy, productive lives. Midnight Mission removes obstacles and provides the accountability and structure that people who are experiencing homelessness need to be productive in their communities. Its conviction and commitment to their success define Midnight Mission.

Houston – Houston Foodbank

As a member of the nation's largest non-governmental, domestic hunger relief organization - Feeding America - its goal is to make food accessible to hungry people in their greatest times of need.
